Chapter 1 — The Village Beneath the Mist

At the edge of the world—or so the villagers believed—lay Ndaroka, a quiet village surrounded by green hills and rivers that sang. Every morning, the people worked their farms, laughed in the markets, and lived in harmony with nature.

But when the sun slipped behind the mountain, silence took hold. Doors were bolted. Fires dimmed. Even the dogs stopped barking.

Because every night, when the wind began to blow through the ravines, a deep, haunting voice would rise from the mountain.

Some nights it cried, other nights it hummed like a sorrowful song. But one thing was certain—whenever the voice came, fear filled every heart in Ndaroka.

The villagers said the mountain was alive. And it was angry.
