When you’re younger, some things look very affordable from the outside. You hear adults talking about bills and responsibilities, but it doesn’t really hit until you start paying with your own money. Data looks cheap… until you realize a small subscription disappears in two days. Transportation feels normal… until you start calculating how much you spend in one month just moving around. Food prices change so fast that something you bought comfortably last month suddenly feels expensive today. Electricity? You’ll load units and start praying everybody in the house remembers to turn off unnecessary appliances. And don’t even mention rent. The way money disappears during house payments should honestly be studied. The funny part is that many Nigerians still smile through it all, hustle every day, help their families, support friends, and somehow keep pushing forward. Adult life in Nigeria teaches you one thing very quickly: Nothing is truly “small money” when you’re the one paying for everything yourself.
