Many Nigerians frequently express concerns about governance, economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and general national direction. While these concerns are valid, it is also important to recognize that democracy provides a structured way for citizens to respond—through participation in elections. That participation begins with voter registration. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently conducting the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise nationwide. This exercise is open to eligible Nigerians who are 18 years and above. It is not limited to first-time voters alone; it also includes those who need to transfer their registration to a new location, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), or correct errors in their personal details. The process is designed in two stages: an online pre-registration phase and a physical biometric capture at designated INEC centres. Completing only one stage does not finalize your registration, so both steps are necessary to be fully captured on the voter register. Your PVC is more than an identification document—it is your legal instrument for political participation.
