Fuel used to be cheap.
Because of subsidy.
The government paid part of the cost.
So citizens could buy fuel cheaper.
But in May 2023,
The subsidy was removed.
President Tinubu said:
"Subsidy is gone."
Suddenly, fuel price jumped.
From ₦185 to over ₦600.
Transport rose.
Food became expensive.
Why remove it?
They said it was too costly.
Over ₦10 trillion spent on subsidy.
But only a few enjoyed it.
Now the people are suffering.
Drivers, sellers, students —
Everybody is shouting.
The government promised palliatives.
But many say it’s not enough.
Minimum wage is still low.
Yet market price is rising.
This is the crisis.
Fuel gone up.
Hope going down.
Many ask:
When will things change?
Will Nigeria survive this hard season?
Only time will tell.
But the people are tired.
