3 hrs agoThere was a time in my life when I felt trapped in silence — a kind of silence that eats deep into the soul. I was caught in something I didn’t want, something I was ashamed of, something that stole my peace and confidence. For a long time, I battled with the habit of masturbation. It started as a little curiosity, but it grew into a stronghold that affected every area of my life.
I would pray and promise God that it would never happen again, only to find myself falling back into the same cycle of guilt and tears. I lost focus. I lost creativity. I lost my boldness. I would forget things easily and feel empty after every moment of weakness. I hated myself for it, yet I didn’t know how to stop.
But one day, something changed. I stopped trying to hide from God and started running to Him. I stopped fighting alone and started surrendering completely. I realized that true deliverance doesn’t begin with willpower — it begins with surrender. It happens when you say, “God, I can’t do this by myself, but I know You can help me.”
Healing didn’t happen overnight. It came in small, quiet victories — one prayer at a time, one worship session at a time, one honest confession at a time. I learned that God doesn’t condemn us when we fall; He reaches out to lift us up. His love is patient, His mercy is deep, and His grace is stronger than any addiction.
As I grew closer to Him, the desire began to lose its power. What used to control me no longer had authority over me. My mind became clearer. My heart became lighter. My creativity returned. I could write again, dream again, and speak with confidence again. It was not my strength that did it; it was God’s healing power that set me free.
Today, I speak about it because someone out there needs to know that freedom is possible. Addiction doesn’t define you — grace does. Your past doesn’t disqualify you — it prepares you for purpose. God can use even your darkest moments to bring light to others.
If you’re reading this and struggling silently, I want you to know that you’re not alone. Don’t hide from God. Run to Him. He already knows, and He’s waiting to heal you. Your story is not over. In fact, this could be the very beginning of a new one.
Freedom is real. I am living proof.
