We cry for a week.
He shares bags of rice.
We cheer.
He attends a wedding.
We snap selfies.
He declares again.
We vote.
It’s a vicious cycle — and the joke’s on us.
Why are Nigerians so quick to forgive those who rob us blind?
Is it poverty?
Is it tribal loyalty?
Or have we been beaten down so much, we’ve normalized corruption?
In other countries, corruption ends careers.
In Nigeria, it launches legacies.
Until we stop celebrating thieves because of “what he did for my area,” nothing will change.
